How to improve your vertical jump

You probably will never reach James’s impressive scores but you can increase your vertical leap with few exercises and some constancy.

Having strong vertical jump skills could be very important to you, even if you don’t partecipate in a sport that requires leaping ability like basketball or volleyball.
In order to increase your vertical jumps you need to start training your muscular strength and your flexibility.

You can start with these advices to improve your vertical jump.

First step is to test your current vertical leap and write it down: this will be your starting point for your training.
Next you need to start your workout, working with perseverance on some exercises like:

  • double legs jumps
  • one leg jump and one leg squat
  • rope jump
  • squat
  • calf raiser

Every set must be explosive since you need to build the Explosive Strength.
If you want to increase your vertical leap it is a good idea to add these exercises on your weekly workout!

Another good way to work on your legs in order to increase your power (speedstrength) is the plyometric training, also known as “jump training” or “plyos”.
These exercises are focused on learning to move from a muscle extension to a contraction in a rapid or “explosive” manner, such as such as in specialized repeated jumping.
Here you can learn more about plyometric exercises: learn to jump

Stretching must be another essential part of your workout: with it you can improve reactivity and legs flexibility and be ready to jump in every condition.

The beast sensor is your perfect workout assistant that helps you out to reach your goals: you can monitor every set and repetitionand understand how fast are you increasing your vertical jump leap during your training .

    Hello,

I really want to buy this kind of sensor.
My goal is to track my training for example to observe what’s type of training is the more efficient for increasing my vertical jump or anything else.
Is it possible to extract the recorded data from the beast app?

      Hello Jc.

This feature will be soon available.

Can Beast be used to measure vertical displacement (can it measure my vertical jump)?

    • Robby Napoli

      Chris-

The Beast Sensor can measure Power and Speed of say Box Jumps but at this time it does not directly measure your Vertical Jump. It is something we at Beast have looked at, but at this point not a functionality and do not have a timeline on development of that feature.

      Hope that information helps!

      Thanks!
